How it all started

Information supplied by Ignatius Donnelly

The Weigh Inn Bar were attempting to break the world record and gain entry to the Guinness Book of World Records for the least number of darts to finish a game of 1,000,001. A team of 8 players playing in groups of two would play in 2 ½ hour shifts non stop until the game has ended. The record at that moment is held by a pub in the USA (36,583 darts). They were using this
attempt to raise funds for Alzheimers and Marie Curie Care. They were calling on all dart clubs, teams, organizations and individual players to get behind this fundraiser and help raise monies for these two worthy causes. Sponsor sheets were obtained by contacting weighinnbaromagh@hotmail.co.uk or donations could be sent securely through the website.

The Weigh Inn Bar team are now the World Record holders for finishing a game of 1,000,001 in the least number of darts. They threw 35,698 with an average of 84.03 to beat the record with 885 darts to spare. 371 x 180's, 1342 x 140's and a powerful display of darts from all involved ensured an exhilarating weekend of darts.

They darted of at 1.30pm Friday and finished at noon Sunday playing non stop. The donations for the two charities are still coming in and I would like to thank all who donated. I would also like to thank Trevor Ditty and Tommy Mc Carter for their attendance during the event.
